Race Overview

Why International Bettors Follow the Kyoto Daishoten

The Kyoto Daishoten is one of Japan’s long-established Grade 2 races and has been contested over 2,400 meters since 1967. The race is an important autumn target for high-class stayers and middle-to-long-distance horses, while its position on the calendar makes it a notable preparation race for the Tenno Sho (Autumn) and Japan’s major autumn and winter staying events.

The 2026 edition has attracted 21 registered horses for a maximum field of 18. The field includes defending champion Deep Monster, 2026 Tenno Sho (Spring) fourth-place finisher Aqua Vernal, Heden Toor, West Now, Danon Cima and Mystery Way. Three horses — Namura Eihab, Brave Rocker and Rascan Bless — are currently listed as outside the top 18 based on the entry order.

The winner of the Kyoto Daishoten receives priority entry to the Tenno Sho (Autumn), adding further importance to the race for horses targeting the major autumn championship.

Betting Odds (Race Day)

The Kyoto Daishoten is a Japanese domestic Grade 2 race, so betting odds are generally finalized close to race day. This page does not use JRA or Japanese racing-site prediction odds. International bookmaker odds will be added when reliable overseas betting information is available.
